Palm Springs
We just got home, after spending a week in Palm Springs yesterday and Boy did we have a blast!!!
We had lots of pool time, BBQ just about every meal with the exception of donuts, yogurt, toast and cereal for breakfast, went bowling, put together a couple 550 piece puzzles, and explored the Air Museum featuring WWII.
It was a wonderful week despite a few mishaps we would rather forget, but unfortunately never will. James severely choked on a hotdog that was very scary to us all. I don't know that he will ever eat another one, nor do I think I will every give either of my children one again.
Jacob also spiked a 24 hour fever but seemed to hang in there and continue to do everything that we wanted to do. He is such a good sport!
It was a great week and we had a wonderful time together as a family!

Yesterday we went to Sam's Club. Every time we are at Costco or Sam's, James sees the big $1200 swing sets they carry and lets me know how bad he wants one. I remind him that they are twelve hundred dollars and then he seems to understand, but always forgets by the next time we are there.
So, yesterday we are at Sam's Club and he sees the swing set. He comes over to me and says, "Mom, I don't want to keep talking about this. I really want that really bad!"

My friend Carli also reminded me of a story I told her after I bought him a transformer's t-shirt. When I gave it to him, he said, "Oh my gosh! Where did you get the money to buy this for me?"
HAHAHA! Kids are so much fun!

Work Work Work
The boys have been keeping busy with worksheet, coloring and reading this summer! Each day they complete at least two worksheets. When they complete the worksheets they color the star on their reward chart. When they read for 15 minutes each day they color in the book. When they have completed both, I give them a sticker of approval. 
We read to Jacob, but he also love to look at pictures and make up his own version of the Story. I required James to read at least one book to us and then we can read to him the rest of the time if he chooses. However, he breezed through his last three books very quickly. Coincidentally, I am taking a children's literature class through school and my first novel that I have to read is Charlotte's Web so James and I have been reading a few chapter's of that book every night.
I also have over 30 children's books I have to read for the class so with each book I have to read, they have to join me! They just completed their first reward sheet and received their prize for all their hard work. James got a transformer,
and Jacob, a Little Einstein toy.
and so far they have both received colored pencils from the library!

My at home program isn't the only thing they are working on. They are involved in two more summer reading programs as well. One is through the library and the other Barnes and Noble. James has received a free book from Barnes and Noble (Jacob is too young for this one)

My Little Artist
My little creative artist drew a picture of his castle with a knight protecting it from the evil fire breathing dragon! (Notice how the "M" caught on fire! haha)Here is a picture of his castle that he is drawing... you should know this one also has a flag that sits at the top that is in a moving box somewhere!

Funny Conversations with Jacob
"Mommy, I can count to 12!"
"Really? Let's hear it!"
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11."
"And... what comes after 11 Jacob?"
"Um... 6!"
"Why?"
"It will break!"
Jacob's reply, "But Manny can fix it."
As in, Handy Manny, the Cartoon show on the Disney Channel. In fact the show's slogan and theme song says, "You break it, we fix it."

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!
Last night, Josh and I got to enjoy a Diamondbacks Game with NO children!!! The seats were only 22 rows off of first base. I was able to get the tickets free through a wonderful lady in MOMS Club and another MOMS Club friend watched the boys for us! It has been a long time since we were able to hang out just two of us and it was soooo nice!!! Not to mention we got to go to a free baseball game with great seats!
