Update 7-14-10: I have been seeing a little bit of a wave in Jaelyn's hair lately. I am not sure which way it is going to go - stick straight, wavy or curly. When she gets out of the bath and I comb it straight, it will dry that way, but if she lays down on it, and messes it up, it will dry with some curl. I love the mystery of what she will look like as she grows and changes.
8 months:
Jaely girl thus far seems to be a mix between her two older brothers, yet is determined to make her own way. Her weight is in the middle; Jacob was my chunky monkey, and James my failure to thrive. When James was a baby he was quick to learn to crawl, walk and stand by seven months of age. Jaelyn is following in his footsteps (literally) by doing all of this and walking around furniture. Jacob was my sick baby: Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, ear infections, and the Rotavirus. James had none. Jaelyn has had two of the three. The third one, the Rotavirus, now has a vaccine and Jaelyn has already taken the oral vaccination for it. Her eyes are wider and brighter than both of them. Her teeth are much more delayed with only two at 8 months, the boys had at least four by six months. She came into the world on her own terms and her own time. James decided he wasn't coming out and he made sure he was turned the wrong way to be certain of it. Jacob, much like his personality today, was ready and waiting and hung out until I was ready. Jaelyn has the patients of Jacob and often the stubbornness of James. She smiles more than both of them put together and when confronted she grins and gives a bashful nod the opposite direction all the while keeping her eyes on you. Her hair is dark and straight. Jacob's somewhat dark, but curly and James' very straight and blonde. It amazes me commonalities of siblings yet the striking differences. One thing is for sure, Jaelyn is her own unique person and she will make sure the world knows it.
