we almost got it

We almost put the puzzel together, Jacob and I. Two of the sides don't match up like they are supposed to. I suggested we leave it how it is and daddy can help us when he gets home from work. "Because daddy will know how to do it?", Jacob asked. "Yes." I told him. And then he said, "Yea because daddy knows how to fix everything."

How Dare She!

Jaelyn is walking from one piece of furniture to the next and she is not even eight months yet! Most babies are just starting to rock back and forth to start crawling at this age. Not Jaelyn, she has crawling mastered and now wants to be on her feet. How dare she do this to her mommy!!

Follow up for Ear Infection

Jaely is 7 mo. 3 weeks and 2 days old. Today we had her follow up visit with Dr. Rampley for her ongoing ear infection. She weighed 17 pounds exactly, temp was normal and ears looked great! She has had a runny nose with lots of green boogies so we are giving her saline drops and neosporine for her poor little nose that has been wiped repeatedly.

Legos!

Today there are so many lego sets with instructions on a specific item to build, it no longer allows kids to use their imagination and creativity. Jacob and I pulled out the tub of over 1000 legos my mom passed down to me and we had at it!

Jaely's First Day at the Pool!

We went swimming at the Surprise pool today. Jaelyn put on her first bathing suit and we went swimming!

James' Third Swim Meet

James swam in his third swim meet yesterday, he took second in the backstroke again, BUT he beat his own previous time by 7.63 seconds!!! His first time racing in the backstroke his time was 53.81 seconds. This time he did it in 46.18! He placed third in Freestyle and was Disqualified in the breaststroke - actually his WHOLE ENTIRE heat was disqualified as well as the one before him and many before that... when they started his third and final heat (freestyle) they only had two "oops" ribbons left to give out because they disqualified so many people from the breaststroke. Oddly enough a girl from the officials own team who used the wall the entire heat to catch her breath and push herself off of it, not just once, but multiple times (no exaggeration), did not get disqualified and took second place in her heat- by the way, I don't have a competitive bone in my body...

Anyway, James did great!!! He isn't loving the outdoor, cold pools and says he hates it, but I think when he gets out of pool and finishes in 3rd, or 2nd (1st is still yet to come) in his races, he is proud of himself and happy that he did it!

James' ahhh ha moment...

James, "Look McDonalds truck!" Me, "Yep, they are delivering the food." James, "What?! They don't make it there? It comes on a truck?!"

Sleeps Like a Pelham

This is Jaely's daily routine at swim practice.

Conversation

James, "I have to go to the bathroom. Jacob, "For real?"

Arguing

James, "Jacob wants the whole entire blanket!" Jacob, "That's because I'm whole entire cold!"

Jacob's Turn

104.2 degrees Ferinheight at 11:50AM. Temp started on Friday evening. I hope it doesn't last longer than James' did... and I really hope that Jaely doesn't get it!

James Took 2nd!

James took 2nd place today in two races, freestyle and backstroke. He was so excited and so proud of himself. In the second race he almost had first place. He was in first the whole race and literally lost by a half of a second. After a week of high temps and no practices he did not want to swim at all. We even had a break down and he would not get in the pool for warm ups. After taking 4th and 5th at the meet last week, he was very discouraged and no longer wanted to do swim team. His last race of the evening, he got DQ'd (otherwise would of been 3rd) for the butterfly because he did not touch the wall with both hands, which I think (even before it happened to him) is ridiculous to ask of 5 and 6 years olds. I have seem so many kids struggle - including James - with just doing the race in front of so many people (I'm talking 300)!!! They should not be disqualifying the younger ones for not touching the wall with both hands - this isn't the Olympics...

Anyway, we are so proud of him!! He did great and although it doesn't matter what he places, and we have told him that, it is still a bonus when he does well! We went to a small restaurant afterward to celebrate with the team. We let him pick out an ice cream shake - cookies n cream was his choice.

Another Visit to the Doctor

I took the kids to the Dr. today. I wanted to check out James' fever since we are going on his fourth day and no symptoms that I can see. He starts off normal in the morning, 101 by 10AM, 102 by 1PM and slowly makes it way up to 104 by the evening. She said he is congested and this is just his bodies way of fighting it off. She said he can have it for 5-7 days. He is eating, drinking, and evening playing normally with the exception of his frequent napping which he has not done in over 2 years.

Jaely still has her same ear infection from three weeks ago in her left ear. Amoxicillin did not work for her so we are trying Omnicef now. My greatest fear is that she is my next Josh/Jacob who both ended up with tubes in their ears. Jacob had an ear infection for 6 months without antibiotics helping at all. He even had an ear infection the day tubes were put in which quickly healed after the surgery, but I do not want to go through that again with another baby. Hopefully I won't have to and these antibiotics will work. We will have another check up in two weeks to make sure they are gone.

She has lost a little bit of weight. When she got her ears checked three weeks ago, I believe she had hit the 17 pound mark and now she is down to 16 pounds 12.8 ounces. She was drinking bottle between 7-8 ounces a feeding and now it is more between 5-6 since this ear infection. She definitely prefers her table foods much more right now.

Jaelyn standing, foods and James update

Jaelyn had her first pears on Sat. June 5th and had her first Oatmeal yesterday, June 7th. So far she has had, brown rice cereal, oatmeal, pears, bananas, green beans and peas. She has no objections to any foods yet. Squash is the next food on our list for her to try.

She is getting around the house like crazy now. I can't really describe her crawl, it is half on her knees and half a bear crawl on her feet. She alternates a regular crawl with a bear crawl. I am not sure why - guess it is to give her knees a little break.

Now to James: He is on this third day with a temp. Last night he went to bed and it was very high. When I first took it on Sunday it was 100.2, another time it was 101. This morning when he woke up I thought we were in the clear with 98, but by 9:30AM it was 102 and by 2PM it was 104. The ibuprofen is working to reduce the fever, but he is laying low, very emotional, and napping frequently.

Video: Jaelyn on the Move

She is also pulling herself to standing very well in her crib. She is even attempting to walk using the crib rails! I told her over and over, "Don't do it Jaely, don't you do it!", as she reached for the end rail with one hand while the other was on the side rail, she grabbed a hold, let go with the other hand as she took a step! ahhhhhh!!! Where did my newborn baby go?

Josh and I had a wonderful night out without the kids last night. We had a lot to celebrate including Josh's new job and our degrees! Dinner was delicious, we spoiled ourselves for the first time in a VERY long time, and we had a fun time together.

James' First Swim Meet EVER

James had his first swim meet ever today. It was very exciting. He did great! The pool he practices in is only 18 yards long and his race is 25 yards, so he was a little surprised to see just how far he had to swim when we got there. He also practices in an indoor very heated pool and this one was outside and freezing cold (like all of his meets will be)! Despite the challenges, he did great and we all had so much fun watching him.

In the pictures below, he is the second person from the left.

His first race he placed 4th - freestyle stroke, 42.07 seconds - 25 yards
His second race he placed 5th- butterfly stroke, 58.73 seconds - 25 yards
